Questions & Answers
What type of counselling do you provide? Our Counsellors are Person Centred Counsellors - this is a non-directive therapy and therefore you are not given advice on aspects of your life.
How will I know if Counselling is for me? Your first session provides a 1:1 Client & Counsellor familiarisation opportunity. The session makes preparation for future sessions ie outline of issues, style of counselling etc. At the close of the session you are under no obligation to book a further appointment and you may wish to leave and take some time to reflect on what came out of the session and decide at later stage when/whether you would like to continue with counselling.
What can I expect from you? Your Counsellor will work with you to help you to explore and manage what is happening or happened in your life; to come to terms with the specific issues and situations you have identified and ultimately to find the solutions you need to enable you to have a more satisfying work-life balance and environment which best suites you, whilst also providing you with the opportunity to develop and put in place strategies to deal with given situations in the future. The Therapy has you at the centre throughout and revolves around you and your needs which will fluctuate. As you progress through the therapy you will identify the development and growth within yourself and demonstrate this in your actions and the decisions you make.
Will I see a new Counsellor each time? No, you will always see the same Counsellor. This is essential as the therapy is private and confidential and helps to secure the trusting therapeutic environment needed. Your Counsellor will work with you to identify suitable appointment times for you both.
How often do I need to attend? Frequency will be agreed according to your needs and requirements – initially to ensure maximum benefit, weekly sessions are advised.
How many sessions will I need? Counselling and support can be provided for as long as you, need and are benefitting from the sessions eg no timescale or limit to the number of sessions available.
What if I need to cancel a session? Your Counsellor reserves the time agreed specifically for you. We ask that you give at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel your appointment. Missed or Un-cancelled sessions will be charged for.
